Two T-shirts can share the same size label and create completely different silhouettes.
The difference is not just how loose a T-shirt feels. Shoulder position, sleeve length, body width and fabric weight all change how the garment sits on the body. Regular and oversized fits simply create different proportions - and in streetwear, those proportions matter.
What Is
Regular Fit?
A regular fit follows the natural shape of the body without feeling tight. The shoulder seam usually sits closer to the natural shoulder line, the sleeves are shorter and the body carries less volume.
Cleaner shape. Easier layering.
What Makes
A Tee Oversized?
An oversized T-shirt is designed with more width through the body, dropped shoulders and usually longer sleeves. The extra space is intentional - it changes the silhouette rather than simply making the garment feel bigger.
The cut creates the volume.
Fit Is Not
The Same As GSM
GSM describes fabric weight. Fit describes garment shape. At Belarté, our 180 GSM T-shirts use a regular fit, while our 260 GSM T-shirts use a heavier oversized silhouette.
Weight and cut work together - but they are not the same thing.
How The
Silhouette Changes
A regular fit keeps the upper body cleaner and works easily with baggy jeans, wide-leg denim or layers. An oversized fit adds more visual weight to the top half and creates a stronger, more relaxed streetwear shape.
Same outfit. Different proportions.
Should You
Just Size Up?
Not always. Sizing up a regular T-shirt can add length without creating the dropped shoulders, sleeve width and body proportions of a true oversized cut.
Oversized is a shape, not just a bigger size.
Which Fit
Works For You?
Choose regular fit for a lighter, cleaner silhouette that is easy to layer and keeps the graphic closer to the body.
Choose oversized fit for more volume, more structure and a stronger streetwear silhouette.
Neither is better. They simply do different jobs.
The Fit Changes
The Whole Look
180 GSM regular fit keeps the silhouette lighter and cleaner. 260 GSM oversized fit adds structure, volume and a stronger streetwear shape. The right choice depends on how you want the whole outfit to sit.
